Small chip Great importance

Provides safer patient care and simplifies routines

This is how Eupnea monitors respiration in patients

Wireless, individual and mobile. Secure and in real-time

  • Comfortable and easy to use

  • Send data via the 5G network for analysis

  • Registering respiratory rate and pattern

  • Real-time feedback improves patient outcomes

  • Focus on sustainability in all aspects

  • Advanced algorithms for increased clinical insight and follow-up

Eupnea was developed by a Norwegian team of healthcare professionals and innovators in sensor technology and data communication. A small wireless sensor is attached to the patient and transmits measurement data via 5G to the cloud, without going through local equipment or Bluetooth.

Why?

Changes in breathing patterns and frequency are the most reliable predictor of a patient's deteriorating condition. Recognizing these changes provides a head start that can prevent serious events, such as cardiac arrest or emergency hospitalization.

Nevertheless, respiration is still recorded manually. On a busy shift, other tasks may often be prioritized, and manual measurements are approximate and occur too infrequently.

How?

Eupnea's wireless sensor attaches easily to the patient's chest. The sensor is comfortable to use and avoids cables and battery changes. Breathing is measured continuously, reliably, and with high uptime.

Measurement data is sent encrypted and anonymized to a Norwegian cloud-based data center that operates the platform itself. Healthcare personnel can view measurement data via the platform and are notified of critical changes.

Where?

The patient

The sensors follow the patient and are designed for maximum comfort and mobility. The platform secures and anonymizes all health data. Eupnea eliminates manual errors and omissions. And last but not least; detecting changes early in the patient contributes to optimal treatment and can save lives.

The nurse

When Eupnea takes over time-consuming respiratory monitoring and recording, healthcare professionals will be able to concentrate on other important tasks, and the workload will be reduced.

Hospital

Haraldsplass Deaconess Hospital currently has digital monitoring of all vital signs except for breathing, which is still counted manually. The sensor and system will replace a manual task for nurses, freeing up capacity and increasing patient safety at the hospital.

The team

Eupnea is a company with a special focus on respiratory monitoring. With dedicated medical and technical expertise, our core team creates innovative solutions for the healthcare of the future.

Feedback

Recognized by leading healthcare professionals

Eupnea has found a solution that addresses a real clinical need, and does so in a way that makes sense in the daily lives of healthcare professionals. As an anesthesiologist, I see the value of being able to detect respiratory changes early – and the potential this has for patient safety throughout the healthcare system.

We want to be involved in developing healthcare – the societal challenges are great, and then we must allow good forces, including startups with good ideas, to participate.

Eupnea without a sensor shows how clinical needs can be solved with technology. This is innovation that fits into the future of healthcare, where there will be fewer healthcare workers to care for each patient. When healthcare is involved early, we get solutions that actually work in practice.
